Radiation brought to the surface from the gas drillers were found in the Alghenny river. It contains radium concentration 200 times above normal. The data show that halogens (chloride and bromide are not removed at all) and Ra was removed but not entirely. The major impacts were no more than 200 meters down the stream. Researchers found that 70% of the fluids flowback is being reused and will be revised for salinity, toxic metals, and naturally occurring radioactive material.
